One of the best things about living in Greece is nature, and the weather. OK, there are lots of great things about Greece. The past few days it's been really hot and the best way to deal with it is to go to the beach. Being lucky enough to have a home close to the beach, we have the luxury of going every single day. I love swimming and this country is full of clear crystal waters! There is no particular point in this post, I just wanted to write how much I enjoy living in Greece (with all the problems still is a paradise on earth)!
Today is the last day of July's Meet Market. So after you have enjoyed your Sunday swimm, come around Technopolis for an early evening stroll. We will be there with lots of handmade goodies!
This August we are celebrating 10 years of marriage with my lovely David. So we decided to have our honeymoon just the 2 of us. (after our wedding we went with friends for a few days on holidays, no honeymoon). Mattis and Nephelie left for their grandparents in France and Anais stayed with my mum. We took a flight to Prague and here we are after 6 days of sightseeing, lots of sleep and kissing ready to go back to our babies. Oh yes I missed them a lot but it was good to spend some time the two of us. Since we had the kids we always try to get away just the couple, even for two days. It is so good and it doesn't mean you don't love your kids. I adore them and tomorrow I am going to hug them and kiss them all day. But I love David as well and I feel I neglect him through the year, with so many things happening.
So those six days it was about us, just US and it was great! Day one, kids holidays. We started well yesterday. We had one of the kids friend sleeping over. This morning though the car would not start. Big problem if you have 4 kids, it's hot and they want to go for a swim. Car is out of battery, husband takes car to be fixed, but before he drives kids and me to the beach. To be contd
Happy New Year everybody! Wishing health, love and happiness to all the world.
So Christmas is around the corner. Lots of preparations for the weekend. Lots of last minute orders. I'm running out of materials. But I am happy and cannot wait for the days to come. All the family together, visiting and get visited by friends.
I am wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!! Another great Meet Market has come to an end. It was a nice weekend full of visitors, great music, lots and lots of friends that came around. I did my Xmas shopping. I bought some original handmade things. Wooden toys for the kids, some small decorative objects and some jewelries. All very nice and cheap.
Although I had a great time and I really enjoyed the weekend, I'm really tired today and decided to have the day off today. Not off the kids of course but from making slippers. Hello,
it's been mad that past few weeks around the house. We had some worker painting the house, the kids were running like mad and I had to prepare for the International fair in Thessaloniki. It is the first time I'm participating in an international fair and furthermore an exhibition that lasts 10 days. As I've got the offer to participate quite late i had to create a huge amount of jewelries in a short time. So I stayed home while dad and kids went off to grandma and I worked and worked and worked. It's good to have a husband that can support you and help you. I made lots of nice pieces (you can have a look at some of them in the jewelry section) and then I shipped them off to Thessaloniki. I will be visiting the fair the last weekend (17-18 September) to check on my lovely pieces. I really enjoyed creating those pieces and I hope people will like them too. LUXURY HANDMADE JEWELLERY EXHIBITIONwww.bazaarts.grLUXURY HANDMADE JEWELLERY EXHIBITION 76th Thessaloniki International Fair | Luxury Handmade Jewelry Exhibition | Greece 10-18 | September | 2011 The time goes by so quick, in 2 weeks we have the christening of our little Anais, then the next day the joint birthday party of Mattis and Nephelie.
And after all these nice things on the 6th of June I will participating in parapera, an new concept in Greece. I'm copying the description from their page: Close to Victoria station, a 7-minute walk from Larissis station and a ten-minute walk from Omonia, a new multi- purpose market space will open its doors to the public. It will offer the opportunity to young designers/creators and independent teams of innovative craftsmen to present their work and to moreover engage with the wider public of the city and in particular those with same demands concerning the design, the quality, the aesthetics and the affordable prices of the products they consume, with similar ecological concerns about the perspectives of everyday life in Athens. The indoor, open-air space of about 1,200 squared metres will be organized as a market and will offer the ambiance of festivities through a series of 50 stores/stalls. Seminars and exhibitions will take place, presenting visual, musical or theatrical events, as well as other types of group activities/initiatives. The space also comprises its own coffee/restaurant that can function as a reading room. In such difficult times for Greece, those individuals who create, who experiment and who dream of a different quality of life in the city could join their powers in such a creative environment. This initiative, as a source of liveliness and of touristic interest, can indeed form a centre of the wider effort for the improvement and the development of new ideas and new products. The creators will have the chance to work either individually or in groups. They could find new modes of extraversion, including contacts with university departments of architectural design, the planning of competitions, exhibitions and of organized excursions to the exhibitions of other European cities etc. At the same time, such an opportunity will open up their way to liaise with the media and the specialists of each field, to enhance their access to information on a global level and their projection through the Internet and, last but not least, to come to close contact with the respective buying public. The market will be a hospitable space, open to the reuse and reconstruction of old objects, the search for new ideas about the aesthetic and practical utilization of recycled products, with the simultaneous aim to minimize the environmental burden of our daily activities. It will be friendly towards citizens who move around the city in bicycles or with public transport and towards those groups of individuals with a positive initiative who strive for better lives, improved relationships and a better environment in Athens. The value of our ideas, of our dreams and of our plan of actions could indeed have a leading role in the life of this city. So, what do you think???? I think it will be great for Athens and for the people leaving in this amazing city! Happy mother's day to all the mothers and all my love to my mother, the best mum in the world! I love you mummy!
